Q. I have a Windows computer, do I need a Windows 2000
server?
A. No, the server type you choose is
based more on special needs and it does not matter what computer
you use when working on your website. The rule of thumb is unless
you need ASP, Cold Fusion, or MS ACCESS the Linux solution is best
for you. When in doubt, go Linux.
Q. I bought my name a long time ago and haven't really used
it, can I sign up with you and activate it?
A. Yes you sure can. We can give you
login access to your web space within a few hours of signing up.
Getting the name to work is merely a matter of repointing the name
servers (DNS).
Q. Is there a charge to transfer my domain from another hosting
company or to have it repointed to Globalnet GNP Hosting?
A. No there is not. There is no
charge for moving your site from another company to our servers
and no charge for pointing the DNS.
Q. If I move from another hosting company to Globalnet GNP
Hosting, will my web site be down or will I lose any email?
A. Your site will not go down and you
won't lose any email. You will have full access to your new web
space prior to making the switch so when the change does go
through the system, you will have already had a chance to load
your files and be up and running before it occurs. It's really
easy to do and a big money saver.
Q. I am currently paying $35/yr in renewal fee's for my domain
name. I saw that you sell them for cheaper. Can I renew my name
through you?
A. Yes you can. We charge just $15
for a domain renewal. Please use our Ask a Question feedback form
and provide the domain name and we'll write back with how it would
work for your web site. Depending on where you purchased the name
originally, the process will vary slightly.
Q. Do I need to know any programming to build my website?
A. Not at all. There are many free
web page building programs out there which make building a web
page as easy as writing a normal letter. Just type out what you
want to say, add a picture or two, and then save the file directly
to your website. It will be instantly viewable on the net!
Q. I'm planning on doing as much of the website myself as possible
but I might get stuck. What will you do to help me?
A. We have a 24/7 web support desk,
email tech support, and also telephone tech support who can give
you free advice and work you through your problem. Support is
always free and we will also teach you new things throughout
the solution process.
Q. I don't want to hire a web designer but if I pay you money will
you make a members only area, or a order form, or maybe some
logos? I don't want to give a stranger access to my website so if
possible can you help me through the stuff I don't understand yet?
A. Sure we can. We are able to handle
anything you might request of us. No job is too big or small and
we'll be sure to get the work done to your satisfaction before any
final payment is made. We'll work fast and finish professionally.
Q. All of the plans sound good but how do I know which is the
right one for me?
A. Usually the special is the best
choice for a new user but if you know for sure your site will be
getting lots of traffic, be selling items online, or need a lot of
space, then you would definitely want to go with the standard or
premier Linux plans.
